Hi.「Extreme Battlemaster Mix」

I think I’ve now used up all possible variations of hi. Not that I’m doing some elaborate system for these titles, I’m just taking chapter titles from Bleach for some random reason. Either way, hi!

In some random attempt to try and update this I figured I would change… things? Granted not a lot, just merged the menu into the header and changed the footer so it actually fit the somewhat-customised-theme-style thing I have. Mainly because the old header was just wasted space and it irked me because of it. Thus the merged menu with my stripey-background that I’m obsessed with using everywhere. Hell, I’ve been using that since my A-level IT coursework which is somewhat… depressing. That was pretty much 2 years ago now… good times. (That’s if ‘good times’ is a set which contains insanity, annoyance, courseworkdrowning, thehellishweek, etcetc as elements. Which I don’t think it does. So that statement can evaluate to false. Can you tell I’m multitasking programming?) I also felt that this deserved an upgrade in version number. Basically, I’m horrendously bad at thinking up titles for things, so I’ve just been using ~that~* for the past while with a version number attached. Version 1 was when it was a general wordpress-blog a few years back, version 2 was when I bought some webspace and shifted it, so I felt it needed an upgrade to 3. And I dislike using 3.00 as that sounds too easy to say. So ~this~* was the… appropriate choice. There were many versions before that, of course, with various livejournals and websites hosted on terrible free webhosts over the years, but this is version 3 since I started versioning them.

Yet another term of Uni finished and I’m back at home doing various things. Granted a lot of them are still uni related because of coursework (sensing a running theme?), all of which are programming tasks and such. Which is relatively nice work, provided I don’t sit there staring for hours at some bug I can’t figure out. Which neeeeever happens. Nope. Let’s see, I have to…

  • Write a distributed application that will communicate between the different aspects of… it.
  • Create a database system, interface and database itself etcetc.
  • Optional compiler code generation, depending on what marks I get in the second part…

Which are quite nice assignments. I think.

Main reason for resurrecting, as such, this is so that it can work as some form of… tracking, I guess. I tend to have various random ideas for projects and such but I never bother to do anything with them after a week or so. I figure by waffling here about things it could help me remember (what with my love of archiving) various ideas and keep track of what I’m doing. Like my IRC bot that’s been ongoing for about a year now because I get sidetracked onto something else, be it XNA or whatever. Either way I feel waffling here could be somewhat beneficial on some level. Chances are I’ll just wander off again and this post will be it for the forseeable future. I tried!

I also came ridiculously close to buying a 1201N to replace my NC10, as I wanted something with a somewhat bigger screen (that wouldn’t try and burn me to death like my M1530 does nowadays. I actually can’t use it for longer than about 45 minutes now.). As in, “I’ve put in my details and just need to press checkout/submit/confirm/whatever” close. I’ve gained the ability to resist buying random new things for the time being it seems, but then I did spend ages going back and forth until deciding to actively look for it’s faults and found a bunch of people getting random shut-downs for no reason. That’s a victory for indecisiveness! That and I’m fond of my tiny NC10, there’s a strange level of entertainment watching people who try to use it fail at typing with it’s keyboard.  I’ll probably get a new laptop or something over the summer, and hope that something that I like will appear by then. Or at least, something I like will appear and be released in the UK, as they have a hatred of releasing the laptops that actually seem good over here. That and my resistance to buy a Dell ever again after the aforementioned M1530 is another issue.

EDIT: Above paragraph now voided due to indecisiveness over indecisiveness: Now bought a 1201n, figured if I buy it from Amazon and it gets any of said problems I can return it rather than from these other random sites that I don’t particuarly trust in terms of return policies and such. Regardless, this way I don’t need to buy a new laptop over the summer which admittedly I have no use for, my desktop and netbook combo is working out well at the moment, laptop would be overkill. This is definitely not me clutching at straws to try and justify my love of purchasing random technology.

I think I’m done waffling, so you’re now free to do meaningful things again.

* I use ~insertstuffhere~ for emphasis, don’t ask me why. If you really want to know, find/build a time machine and ask 12 year old me.
